The Fashion Bomb X DVF

When our network partner, The Fashion Bomb, walked out of the dressing room to be shot in her first of two outfits, jaws dropped. The print and silhouette of her chosen dress and her confidence transformed her into a vision of fabulous unrivaled at the shoot. She so clearly knows a thing or two about fashion as she went straight for a frock that suited her perfectly (an eye for what works is a very important thing). Her blog is also a reflection of her fashion qualifications. On it she examines fashion from an urban context (her slogan, "All Urban Fashion...All The Time") while paying attention to style icons in the media, print ads and magazine covers she finds noteworthy, and also current season clothing at contemporary price points. Her blog is an encapsulation of what it means to be young and intelligent and somewhat obsessed with clothing and it's truly a pleasure to read.

Check out The Fashion Bomb's two great outfits, both with sophisticated a-symmetrical cuts and body skimming silhouettes. She said, of the event, "I'm a huge fan of Diane von Furstenberg so this shoot was a special treat! Though I'm typically devoted to her wrap dresses, I decided to get a bit adventurous and try out her one shoulder styles. Surprisingly the cut was supremely flattering, and the fit? Perfect. I was in love!" Collab Mad: The Coutorture Community Reacts To Gap's New White Shirt Collaborations

Gap CFDA Second Season Images
The novelty has long since worn off for most designer retail collaborations. Gap's much hyped Design Editions Project with the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund warranted the cover of Vogue last year but now in its second season it has created only a minor buzz despite the fashion heavy hitters. The collection features designers Philip Lim, ThreeAsFour, Band of Outsiders, Michael Bastion, and Phillip Craingi. They created looks that varied from western influenced shirts to easy sun dresses. The collection included not only womenswear but menswear from Michael Bastion and jewelry from Phillip Craingi. Despite the lack of excitement, the wider fashion blogging community weighed in even as the boredom with this marketing gambit has become almost palpable across the world. Our dutiful community nonetheless reported on the launch. Catwalk Queen thinks its a great antidote to the fashions on High Street currently. MISS Crew thinks the collection is quite unique and points us to some of the video assets available on the Gap website. Both Hip Candy and The Fashion Bomb focused on the launch party with pretty photos of celebrities unfamiliar to us. And ShopDiary reminds us just how quickly the collection sold out last year. And Fashion Indie gets excited that this season has menswear so he can get in on the action.

The Fashion Bomb Shoutout: White Out

The Fashion Bomb goes above and beyond the call of blogging duty consistently. Some blogs (you girls know you you are) rely on constant content repurposing when they run out of content but not the Fashion Bomb. She has been running a series called "Breaking Into Fashion" that is quickly becoming one of the best resources to read insights from diverse movers and shakers in the fashion industry on getting started in our notoriously difficult to crack business. Today's installment of the series includes an interview with eBay's Style Director Constance White. We could never quite figure out what she did (since who isn't advising some giant technology giant on fashion these days, heck even we do it on occasion) so this post has double utility for us. Thanks Claire!
