A Little Bit Of Cotton Goes A Long Way

In this day and age t-shirts are not unlike jeans wherein you have vast consumer options. But no matter how expensive, no matter how high-quality, a t-shirt still represents a certain laissez-faire that no amount of distressing or screen printing can eradicate. We've pulled together some of our favorite t shirt lines, namely, Just Another Rich Kid, Brains On Fire, Wowch, and Torsion to demonstrate that which we love most about the basic; you might give a fuck about a lot of things, but you can still have a sense of humor. As far as were concerned, if you look like you just rolled out of the backwards seat of your parent's station wagon totally ready to hit six flags and laugh until cheese fries come out of your nose, everything, for you, is going to be juuuust fine.

Wowch, Just Another Rich Kid

Interview: Just Another Rich Kid

Ken Courtney's t-shirts draw on pop culture without being entirely sincere nor overtly ironic. His shirts are actually quite funny which works out well because the sort of people who spend a hundred dollars on their t-shirts, definitely have a sense of humor. For a nicely fit, high quality cotton t-shirt, with a print that says a lot with a little bit of space, it's not like we think the purchase isn't justified. In fact, Just Another Rich Kid t-shirts really move beyond 'basics' because, though appropriate as layering pieces, they're just as fit to be strong-minded garments with some major real estate in your closet. After the jump, Ken Courtney gives us the break-down of his collection and the other aspects of his brand, namely his killer blog and designs beyond t-shirts.

Just Another Rich Kid Fall 2008 Look Book

Ken Courtney of Just Another Rich Kid was recently featured in our 'Spin Me Right Round' t shirt photo shoot. There we played around with t shirts of punk and Bauhaus influence, as were part of the Spring 2008 collection. For Fall 08, Just Another Rich Kid's pushing out the old "Live Fast. Die Young" mentality, notably align with the brand's typically rebellious persona. For Fall 08 expect hoodies and tshirts galore (we're currently placing a staff order of the "We Don't Mess Around" t shirts) and new ready to wear basics like plaid tailored shirts and wool jackets. We happen to think the girls and boys who wear Just Another Rich Kid are the sort not foreign to plaid button downs and wool outerwear, so, if anything Fall 08's giving them an excuse to kill two birds with one stone. Hey, it's all about livin' fast.
