About 30 minutes ago were were seriously weighing the merits of anti-psychosis drugs. Coutorture is getting an overhaul on its backend (a buttlift?) which is causing your editors no end of confusion. Call us stupid but content management systems are tricky beasts. So when we arrived at the Bowery Hotel to interview Geren Lockhart of Geren Ford we were pretty sure you could still see the tears in our eyes.
But the mellow backstage has just about righted all that is wrong in our world. At least until we have to think about technical things again. A sea of smiling people greeted us including some very friendly publicists from HL Group. After a wonderful one on one session with the designer (which will be posted later) we were able calmly enjoy the backstage, snap a few photos and sit a spell in complete comfort before the presentation.
We'll have the Jenny Packham Fall 08 show to you shortly and here's a sneak peek from backstage. Looks like the London red's are still turning up as the week continues and though many designers from London Fashion Week are presenting much darker, more sinister collections, opulence is bound to turn up somewhere. The Packham show should be quite romantic (the woman does bridal wear for god sakes), and dare we say it, appropriate to show on Valentine's Day.
Another backstage, another MAC team (though some familiar faces from Bill Blass. MAC travels fast.), another set of models waiting for their 15 minute show to begin. If the Kai Kuhne collection is any bit as interesting as its hair styling, we think it should be a dramatic show. Black pipe cleaners weave around the front of faces before hair is sprayed and then set 1940's style. In the end, blacked out eyes peek out from perfectly coiffed bangs. The loft is calm and cold, a cloudy river view shooting grey light throughout the space. The girls are getting dressed and we're off to the pit to shoot the show.
We're backstage before the Naeem Khan show. Glamorous beaded and leopard frocks make us feel, even at eleven o'clock in the morning, like we should have worn our fur. Mr. Kahn, an eloquent speaker and very nice gentleman indeed, talked with us about his A/W 08 collection. Expect fur, beading, leopard prints and black tie worthy frocks. Khan's aim is to dress a globe trotting, powerful woman, which will certainly perpetuate the luxe-themed saga of A/W 08.

We're backstage at the Karen Walker show right now, talking to the MAC team about the makeup (sweet, blanked out pinks and nudes) and shooting the girls during their run-through and preparations. The atmosphere is very calm, Walker is sitting front row, watching the girls walk the runway, with half finished makeup, combs sticking out of hair. The girls seem especially friendly, everyone's kind of goofing off together while an older woman approaches the microphone and asks them to listen to something they've heard a million times: walk to the end of the runway, turn, walk back. There are a few mom's here, reading books. In the pit the guys are catching up and talking about the shows, some complaints about back pain (we here ya buddy). Overall, a very nice vibe here compared to most. It would make us not want to return to the tents, except, we've Mastroianni to look forward to. Until then.
