There's no shortage of white and light monochrome looks this Spring 2010, it seems like almost every designer showing in Paris sent at least one down the runway. Not that we blame them. Clean, modern and relatively easy to assemble the look is universally pleasing. Below, twelve different white and light monochrome looks from twelve different designers.

We're gearing up for some bridal happenings in New York this weekend and it occurred to us that there might be some unofficial wedding dresses lurking in the Spring 09 collections. It was, in fact, Jasper Conran, Giambattista Valli, and Dolce & Gabbana who really crossed those boundaries and perhaps not accidentally. A woman, after all, is likely to spend more on her wedding dress than any garment she'll buy for the rest of her life. It's only safe to assume that some designers might think to make a few white frocks in order to nab those one-time consumers. Or maybe we're just paranoid. Last White Weekend

We slept without the air conditioner last night. The eerie quiet of our loft that made it nearly impossible to sleep leaving us in a daze of transitional tossing and turning. More than any other sign, this is the one we use to gauge the end of summer as the subtle shifts in atmosphere precipitate our own internal changes, be there physical or spiritual. And while its been a good summer in the city, we are beginning to feel the Michaelmas transition.

But to cling is human and the Zen of transition is not strong in many of us. Thus this Labor Day, for us the last weekend of summer, is a critical marker for a certain kind of fashionistas. The traditional rules of white reach their last viable wear date come Monday. No more white frocks can grace your tanned frame and white sandals and pumps must be lovingly stored until next May. Sure, plenty of people continue to wear white past these expiration dates. But too often it feels forced, like a faked fashion trend or over done styling. Cruise gives us a second chance and yes we relish trips to Miami, but really our grandmothers may just be right that this is our last chance. And so we celebrate the the last white weekend with airy frocks and the best of this summer's shoes. May you spill BBQ sauce on them come Monday!

Ma Petite Chou Shoutout: LWD

We just aren't going to let this death of the of dress thing die today. Ma Petite Chou has an excellent round up of little white dresses. We are wondering if it is appropriate to bust out the white dresses yet. We know we aren't supposed to wear white after Labor Day but does that also hold true for wearing it before Memorial Day? We suppose there is a little bit of circular logic there. Nonetheless, despite enjoying wearing our favorite pink sun dress recently we just don't feel that we are far enough along in the procession towards warm weather to justify our recently purchased little white dress. But a girl can never start shopping for them too early right? We think the ultimate little white dress for spring just might be this Zac Posen Winsome Dress.
