Daphne Guinness, Byrdie Bell, Julie Henderson, Lauren Remington Platt, Adrien Brody, Marc Jacobs, and Lorenzo Martone gathered at The Standard hotel in New York to join Valentino in celebrating the DVD launch of the documentary film Valentino: The Last Emperor. Madonna and Jesus Luz also attended the party, but avoided cameras by sneaking out a back exit post-event with Steven Klein.

It seems as though Valentino creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli are starting to turn things around. Fall 2009 couture was nothing like the too-safe offerings the duo have sent down the runway since they took the helm at Valentino. The Couture collection this season was short, wispy and black--almost the opposite of the conservative, heavy and brightly colored Fall 2009 ready-to-wear collection. As if to drive the point home the collection contained not even a hint of Valentino red.

Marc Jacobs is reportedly engaged to his boyfriend, Lorenzo Martone. The couple will officially announce their engagement today in Brazil.

A good portion of the Matthew Williamson for H&M capsule collection has leaked to the press.

Paul Wilmot Communications is poised to open a Los Angeles office, and will announce new clients in the coming weeks.

Valentino, so far, approves of the regime change--also spilled wine all over Anne Hathaway at his film premiere.

This morning the Spring 2009 Miu Miu ad campaign featuring Katie Holmes was revealed. Vogue UK called it "positively feline" and we can't say we disagree.

WWD reports this morning on the New York Fashion Week off-site schedule. Some key announcements to note, Alexander Wang will show at Roseland Ballroom (seats 1,500 guests) and Marc Jacobs will show at the Lexington Avenue Armory (no bribes necessary).

Valentino's menswear designer Ferruccio Pozzani will leave the house after the presentation of his Fall 2009 collection in Milan. That leaves both menswear and womenswear at Valentino open for new creative direction in 2009.

Rumors of Steven Alan and Opening Ceremony Uniqlo collaborations surfaced yesterday. Racked reports this morning that the official word will be dropped at the end of the month.

CEO of Wal-Mart, H. Lee Scott, spoke about consumer spending habits at the National Retail Federation's 98th Convention. Scott tackles sustainability, among other weighted topics.
