Wearing a suit to walk the dog? Even if you’re President of the United States, the style is somewhat jarring...While fashion observers have roundly applauded the President’s ability to dress up, the image of the usually cool Obama scampering after a dog like some sort of harried butler provided further evidence the President relies too heavily on his on-duty attire and has yet to master the subtle art of sportswear.

Coutorture Community Must Reads 10/22/08
There are enough fashion tip-offs in today's Must Reads to land you flat on your back with information overload--or maybe that's just us.
The Coveted clued us in to designer Carin Wester and her feminine, trendy Fall and Spring offerings. Her designs remind us of the aesthetic of sweet designers like Karen Walker and Lover. Not a bad likeness at all.
Style...A Work In Progress talks about fashion-friendly bike helmets which, we do agree, are a necessity if you're going to ride!

Funny how this happens. Just yesterday we reported on our visit to the Marie Saeki showroom and our discovery of the line Burfitt, and today, Shiny Squirrel posted the Fall 08 look book from the line. It's gothic perfection, check it out.
We saw today what we never knew we wanted: a saltine cracker as a necklace. Today Clothes-PIn gave a shout out to jewelry designer Emily Elizabeth and her fashion sarcastic pieces.
In The Showroom: Falke Spring 09
There are no two sports activities closer to fashion than yoga and running--it is a result-yielding combination, an unspoken ritual for many women in the industry. Lucky for Falke their ergonomic women's sportswear focuses on those two activities exclusively. In bright colors and state of the art fabrics, this sportswear collection, we think, blows Adidas out of the water. Some of the Falke Spring 09 pieces were so cool we began imagining them as proper fashion outfits. Once we moved over to the super soft undergarments and hosiery, we were straight-up ready to swear off denim and cocktail dresses forever. If you're disciplined enough to hit the gym after work everyday we think you deserve to wear clothing that's both comfortable and fashionable.
Cool Nineties From Stella McCartney
Stella McCcartney always plays to the heartstrings of the hipsters and this season it was with 1990's influenced garments, albeit the more glamorous ones. This collection fits in with some of the other nineties inspired collections that have arrived this season--Proenza Schouler and Giorgio Armani couture are both great examples. The young fashion set is all about this era for fall and spring and so it seems appropriate that more come from their beloved McCartney. Aside from this, the collection shows McCartney's talent (and experience) with chic sportswear and her penchant for calm color palettes as well. Not a bad word to say, even if it's the more mellow of the Paris collections. Also, bonus points for the slicked-back hair (that style should come in handy to those girls growing out the YSL cut in an effort to go long). Spring 2009 has some of the best hair styling we've ever seen, as simple as it may be.
