Alexander Wang Resort 09 Look Book
Easy silk blouses, slip-on frocks, and loose-fitting trousers are what have come to define Alexander Wang as a designer and this Resort 09 is full of gorgeous examples. Resort, the midseason phenomenon quickly gaining fashion clout, is often where we see the most clear examples of a designer's aesthetic. These deliveries do not come with the spectacle of a runway show (save for, say, Chanel) nor do they aim to redefine a designer's persona. They are, in fact, tried and true offerings of what works and what will sell--which is precisely what makes them interesting. What did we love most from Wang's Resort 09? His foresight in using orange as a pop-color and the ease at which these garments could be worn during both holiday and vacation happenings. Wang reminds us, over and over again, that his brand is far more serious than it looks.

Spring 2009 Trend Report: Orange Crush
We've said it before and we'll say it again, stock up on your orange because it's going to be that kind of Spring/Summer. Today we present you with a little round up of orange as it appeared in the Spring 2009 shows--we think trend galleries are best presented on a Friday when all we can do is monotonously page through photos. Or is that just us? From Ann Demeulemeester to Dries Van Noten to Luella to United Bamboo--orange was a pop color on catwalks all over the world. Some attribute the abundance of orange to the infamous Prada Fall 08 collection or to the spirit of a season with a new president and a bandaged economy. Whatever the case may be we find the appearance of the color particularly uplifting and the psychologists will back us up on that--orange signals both energy and warmth.

Immaterial: Stella McCartney Pleated Nylon Bag In Orange
This orange bag is also green, thank heavens. Part of the Spring 08 Stella McCartney collection, this Pleated Nylon Bag in Orange is meant to tote all your Summertime accoutrements. Measuring over 1 1/2 feet wide, we'd be surprised if it didn't double as a 'get out of the city for a day'-bag. One of the biggest challenges when it comes to Summer handbags, in the first place, is the fact that polished leather bags can sometimes feel a bit mismatched with casual frocks or shorts. Nylon, in a bold color like this and with asymmetrical ruching, mean that you won't look like your carrying around a grocery bag, nor will you feel unbalanced. McCartney's Spring collection of nude and either orange or navy anchored floral garments, lent itself to this bold, matte colored accessory.
