Yohji Yamamoto will not show its Spring 2010 men's collection during Fashion Week in Paris.

This year's CFDA Swarovski Award nominees will be toasted in a series of short films produced by KCD.

The 17 year-old DKNY billboard in Soho is finally gone and will soon to be replaced by a billboard from Hollister.

In 2006, Talbots bought J. Jill for $517 million and now the company is now selling J. Jill to Golden Gate Capital for $75 million.

OAK Opens New Concept Store Called A.OK

New York retailer, OAK, launched a concept store today called A.OK. The store occupies its own section of the OAK e-commerce site as well as spaces within the Bond Street and Williamsburg flagships. The concept is all about stylish pieces at high street prices and, to keep things interesting, inventory will be limited and constantly changing. Current items include Quay round sunglasses for $48, African print pants for $52 and the ssion mustache face tees for $42. We can't wait to hear what Cintra Wilson has to say.

Burberry Lights Up The New York City Skyline

Last night Burberry staked their claim on the New York City skyline by lighting up 50-f oot-long Burberry signs atop their new Madison Avenue headquarters. Thanks in part to the establishment of The Burberry Foundation and a $50,000 donation to local youth projects, Mayor Bloomberg declared yesterday "Burberry Day" in New York. There to celebrate were Burberry's Christopher Bailey, Lily Donaldson, Terence Koh, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and more. Assembly Launches E-Commerce Site

One of our favorite New York stores, Assembly, just launched an e-commerce site. Opened in the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 2008, this small but well-curated shop stocks the likes of Rachel Comey, Raquel Allegra and Dries Van Noten eyewear in addition to a selection of beautiful vintage pieces. The online store carries the same inventory as in-shop, so now everyone can partake in the fine selection. Our two favs, above.

Less than a year after opening their acclaimed Nolita boutique, the three fashion folks behind Inven.tory have gone and done it again--only this time the space is warehouse-sized. With the same retail concept in mind, to sell emerging brands at wholesale prices, Inven.tory makes it that much easier for independent brands to sell overstock, samples, and one-offs without resorting to Century 21 standards. After a successful Cheap Monday pop-up event to kick things off, the new shop is now fully stocked and open for business. A look in the new space in the gallery below.

Richard Avedon Exhibition To Open At International Center Of Photography

There's nothing like the air-conditioned calm of a gallery opening during a sweltering New York summer--and this one should be on any fashion lover's calendar. The exhibition opens May 14th and stays open through September 6th. It calls itself "the first exhibition devoted exclusively to Richard Avedon’s fashion work" and is slated to include some 175 photographs from Avedon's career. Avedon is most widely known for his work in the 50's and 60's at Harper's Bazaar and in the 70's and 80's at Vogue (he went to Vogue when Diana Vreeland did). Avedon was also the inspiration behind Stanley Donen's film Funny Face starring Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn. Let's hope the film is playing down the street at Bryant Park this summer, so that one could make a whole Avedon evening of it.

Earlier this month we wrote about a new pop-up store poised for the Lower East Side and, in honor of it's opening, here's a look inside the space. If American workwear, retro Moscot frames, and motorcycles don't signify spring in the Lower East Side, we don't what does. The Smith + Butler pop-up store, located inside the Moscot boutique on Delancy Street, opens today.

Smith + Butler Do New York Pop-Up Shop With Moscot

Later this month Brooklyn cult-boutique Smith + Butler is taking occupancy at the Moscot space in Manhattan's Lower East Side. Smith + Butler, responsible for something of a Steve McQueen renaissance in Brooklyn, stocks classic American work wear and Motorbikes, among other Americana-inspired items. Moscot seems an apt partner then--the New York-borne eyewear company has been in business for almost one hundred years now and still contends with hip eyewear brands like Ksubi with their retro-inspired styles. The temporary space will host both Moscot and Smith + Butler's newest Spring offerings from March 27th through May 25th.
