MAC is backstage at the Jason Wu resort show (more on the clothing later, of course) and a photo has emerged, via Twitter, of the makeup look. Jason Wu is having quite a year and after a stellar Fall 2009 collection we can't wait to see what he cooks up for Resort and Spring 2010. The makeup look, a tomato red lip and clean, dewy skin certainly adds to the anticipation. Stay tuned for more...
You know summer has arrived when bronzer suddenly lands on your beauty shopping list. M.A.C., whose job it is to anticipate such things, will release a new collection called "Style Warrior" this June. With the economy in the toilet, many women are in saerch of an inexpensive way to be on-trend this season. Look no further than your local makeup counter! If you can't afford the it-bag of the season, adding a dash of the color coral to your makeup is an easy way to stay current. Here are Raging Rouge's coral picks for the season...
We're not beauty buffs so when we do indulge in makeup it tends to be the same shades that we fancied in middle school: sweet pinks, cherry reds, and for the eyes, only kohl. When we saw MAC's summer collection, called "A Rose Romance", we were more than excited. Save for a pigment pot with blue dust, called "Mutiny", the collection is entirely made up of those sweet, feminine colors. Check out the entire collection, which hits shelves on April 23rd, in the gallery below. For more MAC beauty, click here.
Curious how you you can appropriate that perfect shade of red lipstick from the Ruffian show or that vibrant cobalt shadow from Nicole Miller? Well, M.A.C. kind of makes that easy seeing that they're at more fashion shows than even an overzealous celebrity or magazine editor. Check out the M.A.C. face charts below for the makeup looks behind five hot-off-the-runway shows.
Mark Edio, Shu Uemera-trained makeup artist to countless photo shoots and runway shows across this great city, played makeup for our Seasoned Street photo shoot as well as an amazing photo editorial by our friend's at OAK. We were blown away when this shoot went up last week and are thankful for the opportunity to give it a shoutout. Edio knows his makeup and OAK, well...they know everything. Sephora Gift Sets: Sephora Brand Scent Sampler ($80 value) $50, NARS Sephora Exclusive Lip Gloss Collection $45, Fresh Sugar Star Treatment ($103 value) $87, Stila Purrfect Eyes ($96 value) $45
We received a subscription email the other day, cluing us in to the Sephora Scent Sampler as a holiday gift option and boy, did it open a fury of bookmarking. The Sephora gift section is both comprehensive and affordable--from lip gloss to perfume to toiletries, almost each gift set is marked down, making the options not only irresistible for gift giving, but for exercising some brand loyalty as well. That said, we think Holiday shopping online only makes sense, we suggest making a stylebook or bookmark folder as you find suitable gifts for your friends and family and then, once you've made your list (and budget) and checked it twice, sit down with a glass of wine, put on the Charlie Brown Christmas DVD, and start ordering.
Just after the Spring 09 shows commenced, we brought you our top four wearable Spring 09 hairstyles, and today, we're following up with our favorite makeup looks--though they might not be the most daring, these four shows had our favorite street-ready makeup. Cynthia Rowley, who also made our list for hair, had Bobbi Brown create a makeup look with a matte, peach lip and wet grey eyelid. In the Marni show, makeup was kept to a nude lip and dark, thick brow--something we've always had a weakness for. At Nicole Farhi in London, our obsession with blush was indulged and the girls looked as fresh as can be on the runway. Finally, in Paris, the YSL makeup look boasted "Fellini" eyes that would be a perfect compliment for any nighttime affair.
Keeping up with the trends, especially when it comes to beauty, can have a frustrating keeping up with the Jones vibe. If you think fashion has a fast product turn around then beauty will make your mind reel. One of our favorites, MAC, releases impressive conceptual collections at a pace that rarely allows us a breath. We just finished getting used to Neo Sci Fi and now we are on to Cult of Cherry. Ccoming up with a complete set of perfect fall trends can feel, no pun intended, fruitless. Thankfully, we had makeup artist Junko Kioka to keep us on the straight and narrow during our Five Fall Trends photo editorial. This fall clean matte skin, matte lips, daring to be bare, and if you are very bold, extreme lips and eyes makes a nice top five list. Isn't it nice when the professionals are there to keep you focused?
This is one beauty concept we can actually buy into. The new Bobbi Brown Quick Face Collection features six products that make for a complete makeup look. Bobbi Brown, admitedely, is one of our favorite makeup lines. The color palates, though they aren't as vibrant as, say, Heatherette for MAC, always seem to draw upon that 12-year-old, 'I just ran around in the woods for hours', glow that most women have trouble calling up when our diets, stress-levels, and exposure to UV Rays gives our skin a dull look. In a perfect world, we'd all be drinking gallons of water a day, and have the kind of makeup that enhances our wild, natural beauty. We think the six-product, Bobbi Brown fix, might be just the thing. The collection features everything you might imagine, a lip crayon, a classic black mascara, a long-lasting eye shadow, cream-based rouge, with colors in that typical Bobbi Brown range of nudes, berries, and browns. With Summertime approaching, and the birthday's flying by, we like the idea of sticking to a six-step makeup routine that reminds us of the days when running around in the woods was all that mattered in life.
