Fashion's affair with leggings has been building for some seasons now and this Fall 2009, it was as if designers were giving it a final embrace. What inspired some designers to take the trend to an extreme? We think it was a matter of offering customers a little bang-for-buck since leggings and hosiery will retail for less. Whatever the reason we're sure we'll be seeing them in a magazine editorial or two, not to mention much less attractive versions on the high street.
We've long been fans of Shelly Steffee's amazing aesthetic where interesting fashion-forward tailoring meets feminine details. It's not often one can be fashion-forward and ultra-feminine at the same time. For our Seasoned Street photo shoot Steffee's frocks gave our models a burst of color without straying from the hip, slightly off-kilter silhouette we were looking for. Our photographer on the shoot, Shannon Sinclair, also shot Steffee's Fall 08 look book, pictured above. We're backstage before the Naeem Khan show. Glamorous beaded and leopard frocks make us feel, even at eleven o'clock in the morning, like we should have worn our fur. Mr. Khan, an eloquent speaker and very nice gentleman indeed, talked with us about his A/W 08 collection. Expect fur, beading, leopard prints and black tie worthy frocks. Khan's aim is to dress a globe trotting, powerful woman, which will certainly perpetuate the luxe-themed saga of A/W 08.
