Since it first launched in 1994, MAC's Viva Glam program has donated over 130 million dollars to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS all over the world. With 100% of the selling price going towards the MAC AIDS Fund, MAC has earned the reputation for being a major leader in this important cause. The newest shade of Viva Glam lipstick was launched by pop singer Fergie earlier this week and will hopefully bring MAC to their remarkable 150 million dollar milestone. The new shade (left) will be available starting March 19th everywhere that MAC is carried. Click on the link above for more.
The Parisians have always had a unique take on makeup, never quite natural but certainly not done up, and that neither too much nor too little aesthetic has manifested itself in the strong presence of very red lips on the Spring 2009 catwalks as dare we say the sole focal point of the season's beauty. Maison Martin Margiela's anonymous model with its red lips however brings up a more interesting point for us, in that what we view as feminine in an increasingly gender conflicted world can so often come down to cultural signifiers or simplistic markers. Paris would seem to be telling us that in lieu of all else look to the red lips.
Coutorture's community has plenty of material to work with this week thanks to the nearly instant access we all enjoy to images and reviews of Milan Fashion Week so its little surprise that the catwalk was on everyone's mind.
