Erdem Moralioglu Collabs With Smythson

Emerging British designer, Erdem Moralioglu, and Smythson of Bond Street, established 1887, recently revealed a collaboration in the pipeline for holiday. Moralioglu has designed a series of notebooks and diaries for Smythson which feature his fashion sketches and signature floral prints. Above, a first look at the designs.
London College Of Fashion Grads Also Turned A Few Heads
The Central Saint Martins BA collections certainly got their share of American press last week but, over in England, Saint Martins is just one aspect of Graduate Fashion Week. Another fashion college of note is London College of Fashion, whose BA graduates caught the eye of Topshop in addition to our sister site, Fabsugar UK. LVMH Announces Winners Of The 'Bike In Style Challenge'
Partnered with FIT and the New York City Department of Transportation, LVMH announced the winners of their "Bike In Style Challenge" yesterday. FIT student Jessica Velasquez, 21, won first prize while fellow students Jane Carlton and Stephanie Murphy were also awarded. The challenge called for FIT students to design a poncho, a jacket and a travel bag which were both functional and stylish. DKNY, which is owned by LVMH, will be producing prototypes of Velasquez's winning designs.
Burberry Lights Up The New York City Skyline
Last night Burberry staked their claim on the New York City skyline by lighting up 50-foot-long Burberry signs atop their new Madison Avenue headquarters. Thanks in part to the establishment of The Burberry Foundation and a $50,000 donation to local youth projects, Mayor Bloomberg declared yesterday "Burberry Day" in New York. There to celebrate were Burberry's Christopher Bailey, Lily Donaldson, Terence Koh, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and more. Barnes & Noble Does Back-To-School Collaborations

Designed by students for students, the 2009 Back-to-Campus Collections from Barnes & Noble are poised to hit shelves in a few short months. The collaboration began in 2007 with Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) students while, this year, the bookseller invited Pratt Institute students to participate as well. Check out a few of the Fall 2009 products from SCAD and Pratt students, available at Barnes & Noble stores nationwide (and online) beginning in mid-July.

Salma Hayek And Francois-Henry Pinault Celebrate Second Wedding In Venice
Actress Salma Hayek and CEO of PPR, Francois-Henry Pinault, held a second wedding ceremony in Venice yesterday. The pair were first married on Valentine's Day at a town hall in St. Germain and held their second ceremony at the Palazzo Grassi, where the pair first met. In attendance were Anna Wintour, Jacques Chirac and Mario Testino among others.

Less than a year after opening their acclaimed Nolita boutique, the three fashion folks behind Inven.tory have gone and done it again--only this time the space is warehouse-sized. With the same retail concept in mind, to sell emerging brands at wholesale prices, Inven.tory makes it that much easier for independent brands to sell overstock, samples, and one-offs without resorting to Century 21 standards. After a successful Cheap Monday pop-up event to kick things off, the new shop is now fully stocked and open for business. A look in the new space in the gallery below.

Richard Avedon Exhibition To Open At International Center Of Photography
There's nothing like the air-conditioned calm of a gallery opening during a sweltering New York summer--and this one should be on any fashion lover's calendar. The exhibition opens May 14th and stays open through September 6th. It calls itself "the first exhibition devoted exclusively to Richard Avedon’s fashion work" and is slated to include some 175 photographs from Avedon's career. Avedon is most widely known for his work in the 50's and 60's at Harper's Bazaar and in the 70's and 80's at Vogue (he went to Vogue when Diana Vreeland did). Avedon was also the inspiration behind Stanley Donen's film Funny Face starring Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn. Let's hope the film is playing down the street at Bryant Park this summer, so that one could make a whole Avedon evening of it.
