Today Yoox.com is launching exclusive, one-of-a-kind items from Maison Martin Margiela as part of the online retailer's holiday gift guides. A series of Margiela jackets and tops (available for the first time online November 30) have been created using only recycled materials—think pink holiday tinsel, auburn-colored wigs, leather sandals, tiles from a disco ball and white elastic bands. It's a Project Runway-style challenge finally gone right.
We can't be the only ones reconsidering our opinion of American Eagle. The mall staple has been improving upon its merchandise recently, bringing the chain once known for sweats and flannels into the present with well-priced skinny jeans, suede boots and motorcycle jackets.
WWD reported today that retail analysts predict good things for the upcoming holiday season due to their renewed emphasis on fashion and aggressive pricing. The chain has a special collection out to coincide with the all-important retail season — check out their designs below.
Black Friday is looming and, as is typical of e-commerce, Net-a-Porter is one step ahead of the game. This Monday Net-a-Porter will launch into their big Fall sale with designer items marked up to 50% off. Want details? Here's a taste...the Alexander McQueen blow oversized hobo bag will be marked down from $2,100 to $1,260, the Miu Miu paillette pumps will be marked down from $650 to $390, and the Marc by Marc Jacobs concrete jungle dress will be marked down from $460 to $230. Looks like Net-a-Porter is giving us a reason to get up on Monday morning. If you haven't checked out their new Boutiques section, now is a chance to get, ahem, familiar with the merchandise.
We will be candid here and say that when we watched this video we literally started crying--we are not only turning into our mothers but we also buying one pair of TOMS for every person in our family this year. Even Dad. The TOMS goal is simple; sell 30,000 pairs of shoes, give 30,000 pairs of shoes and we can't help but get teary-eyed at just how much of an impact fifty dollars can make. Not only does your purchase matter very much to the world but the pair of shoes you get in return, well, we can put our fashion stamp on quite easily. Christmas shopping, done.
Romeo Gigli, Italian designer, will launch a new line called io ipse idem. The designer is famous for coining the term 'cocooning' and was popular in the 1980's when Italian Vogue editor Carla Sozzani helped launch his career.
Sephora Gift Sets: Sephora Brand Scent Sampler ($80 value) $50, NARS Sephora Exclusive Lip Gloss Collection $45, Fresh Sugar Star Treatment ($103 value) $87, Stila Purrfect Eyes ($96 value) $45
We received a subscription email the other day, cluing us in to the Sephora Scent Sampler as a holiday gift option and boy, did it open a fury of bookmarking. The Sephora gift section is both comprehensive and affordable--from lip gloss to perfume to toiletries, almost each gift set is marked down, making the options not only irresistible for gift giving, but for exercising some brand loyalty as well. That said, we think Holiday shopping online only makes sense, we suggest making a stylebook or bookmark folder as you find suitable gifts for your friends and family and then, once you've made your list (and budget) and checked it twice, sit down with a glass of wine, put on the Charlie Brown Christmas DVD, and start ordering.
Our network partners have been doing their market work--with textiles research, beauty product reviews, and new brands to mention, they are surely keeping themselves busy.
