Yesterday we gushed over Mociun, a brand we discovered by making our daily e-commerce rounds, and today we've found another brand that has us positively inspired--and, at ten o'clock in the morning no less. No surprise that the brand is French (Americans love the French, don't we?), such a thing is not an easy task after reviewing the Ed Hardy Spring 09 collection. Heimstone's Fall 08 collection looks kind of like Chico's without all of the corporate bits. There's suede, pop colors, a little leopard, some artsy paneling, and some statement necklaces to boot. It's an aesthetic we haven't exactly seen from anyone and that's always nice to be able to say about a contemporary brand. After all, that's why VPL is now a household name and why no one can tell the difference between Trovata and Corpus. As the seasons pass, originality does, in fact, pay off. You can buy Heimstone at OTTE.

This shoutout is long overdue--the
Total Turnaround Visible Skin Renewer is one your editor's must-have beauty products. To be honest, we often leave the beauty posts to
our beauty bloggers, for their knowledge is so impressive that our olive-oil and sunblock beauty routines seem a bit simple in comparison. We've realized, however, that we are not alone in loving this particular Clinique product. We buy mostly everything online but something, time and time again, we forget to purchase in advance is our moisturizer. It seems before we know it we're scraping the bottom of the glass jar and making some time in our day to run to Sephora for an instant replenishment. This happened for the fourth time in a row this week and for the fourth time in a row we dredged all the way over to Sephora only to realize that the moisturizer was sold out. Why we hadn't learned our lesson the first time is another matter completely. From this experience we learned two valuable lessons. One, our mousturizer of choice is acutally
a lot of people's moisturizer of choice, and, shopping online takes the cake every time!
The Clinique Total Turnaround Visible Skin Renewer is super light and almost mealy to the touch. It leaves our skin
actually glowing with out the sparkles that so many 'glow'-titled moisturizers secretly pack in their bottles. It always gives our skin just the right amount of moisture; never are we oily, never does our face feel dry. Quite frankly, it serves us better than any moisturizer we've ever tried and (our mom and grandmother always said, 'As far as skincare goes, only trust the French') it's from a company that's been with us since our teenage years (boy, did our skin glow back then). Below, the star mousturizer and a few other Clinique products we have scattered about our powder rooms.

For some reason we're really drawn to the Les Prairies des Paris aesthetic these days. It's that familiar, Parisian chic that we see from brands like A.P.C. and Vanessa Bruno but, in this case, it's even less recognizable. Call us tired of the loud stuff, call us in the mood for a little reading in the backyard. Even though fashion moods come and go we still think Les Prairies des Paris is a great brand to look to when you're revising your Fall wardrobe or are in need of office basics that don't come from Express (shudder). Les Prairies started back in 2002 and has remained a well-stocked contemporary brand that, to us, always blends in at the boutiques, until we realize everything in our dressing room is made by them. A few seasons ago, they made a sick navy trench--it was heavy and cut just right. This season, there are more than a few basics to covet. In fact, it's just like the days when A.P.C. was still fairly under wraps and it was possible to look like a preppy little french girl without people confusing that with, well, a hipster in a brownstone. There is no real difference, it's just better when a contemporary brand does not yet give away your place of residence.
Given our fondness for textiles it is little surprise that we are drawn to Raphaelle Cavalli's contemporary womenwear's line Cotélac. The French line advertises it self as slightly offbeat, with a dash of the bohemian spirit. And while its playful spirit will make it popular with the hipster cum Francophil crowd, its the attention to detail and the quality of the fabrics that make the line appeal to us. Its easy to dash off a contemporary line that will sell but taking the time to craft a great garment is a rare quality, one that Colélac has in spades.
