Although Margiela left his Maison last December, he apparently had been personally involved with every aspect of creating the house's first fragrance—from the juice itself, to the bottle and upcoming advertising campaign.
The fragrance, a "woody green floral" with notes of incense, bitter orange, jasmine, and cedar, is held in a Baron & Baron co-designed green-tinted bottle which appropriately has the effect of being dipped in white paint. Paris' Collette will have the first batch on January 25, and those of you in the U.S. will have to wait until it hits Margiela stores in March.
We're guessing there's also a hint of patchouli oil in there somewhere, as Margiela's models were often doused with the stuff before hitting the runway.

We normally dislike celebrity fragrance endorsements but Yves Saint Laurent Parfums has announced that Vincent Cassel will be the face of an upcoming men’s fragrance and we rather like the choice. The star of gritty French drama “La Haine” is about as hip as they come so we don't complain. If only all companies were this forward thinking about their faces.

We have always personally loved the smell of baby powder. So it isn't a big surprise to us when
Sugarshock points out that
baby powder influenced fragrances are on the rise. Now that the market is saturated with florals something a bit more powdery still appeals to the less sophisticated scent consumer without scaring them. There are quite a few scents we like in particular
Demeter Fragrance Library Baby Powder and
i Profumi di Firenze Talco Delicato

We however are a little more unnerved that while there are people out there who want to smell like babies there are others who want babies to smell like adults.
Johnson's Baby Cologne seems like a pretty disturbing idea to us. We found
a commercial for it on Youtube that is just shudder worthy. It apparently has
a gentle, fresh fragrance with a pleasant combination of floral and citrus hints. And its now more refreshing than ever! Proving that the grass really is always greener on the other side. We live in a world in which adults prefer to smell like talcum powder while insuring their babies to have a nice citrus scent.
