The MAC team was on hand this evening, recreating Fall 2009 makeup looks from Womenswear Designer of the Year nominees Narciso Rodriguez, Marc Jacobs and Rodarte. Led by makeup artist James Kaliardos, the small team had just over an hour dedicated to each set of girls. A couple of our backstage snapshots above.

New MAC Collection Gets Our Hearts Racing

We're not beauty buffs so when we do indulge in makeup it tends to be the same shades that we fancied in middle school: sweet pinks, cherry reds, and for the eyes, only kohl. When we saw MAC's summer collection, called "A Rose Romance", we were more than excited. Save for a pigment pot with blue dust, called "Mutiny", the collection is entirely made up of those sweet, feminine colors. Red Lipstick: Fall 2009's Ubiquitous Exclusive

This season's biggest beauty trend, strong red lips, created almost as much of a stir during Fashion Week as did those eponymous thigh-high boots. First, in New York, limited-edition tubes of MAC's Ruffian Red lipstick were given to show attendees-- the tomato shade was so well-received it even had beauty editors calling it The Rarest Red. Later, in Milan, the Chanel "liquid" lips at Sportmax created a similar sensation. This time the siren shade was buzzed about by American editors who couldn't get their hands on the European-released shade just yet. Regardless it seems the ubiquitous rep-lipstick look will be back in a big way for Fall 2009--that is, if you can get your hands on the right shade.

MAC Viva Glam Releases New Liptstick, Fights AIDS

Since it first launched in 1994, MAC's Viva Glam program has donated over 130 million dollars to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS all over the world. With 100% of the selling price going towards the MAC AIDS Fund, MAC has earned the reputation for being a major leader in this important cause. The newest shade of Viva Glam lipstick was launched by pop singer Fergie earlier this week and will hopefully bring MAC to their remarkable 150 million dollar milestone.
