Rosemount Australian Fashion Week: Sara Phillips Fall 2009
This season's Rosemount Australian Fashion Week is happening as we speak and, because there are only about ten shows, will also be over before we know it. Although ten shows does not a Fashion Week make, we think it's worth keeping up with--the smaller designers deserve a chance too. That said, Sara Phillips, for her Fall 2009 collection, showed the kind of moody purples and plums that we saw from so many designers this season. Her usage of transparency and velvets made the outfits more dynamic with texture. The great thing about Australian Fashion Week is that the runway shows correspond with our current season, thereby indulging our need for instant gratification. For instance, Phillip's color palette and usage of texture is something we're pretty excited to employ straight away.

Model Co Skin Drink
Every woman has those tried and true beauty secrets, and the Coutorture staff is no different, even when we do the makeup for our original photo shoots. One challenge we face is keeping the model's skin looking healthy and fresh when so many foundations and powders can create a drying effect. Model Co, a beauty company borne in Australia, is known for it's innovative products and has developed this beloved product, called SkinDrink Airbrush Moisturizer. Using ginko, papaya, green tea, and bamboo in a fine mist formula, the moisturizer freshens skin without disturbing your perfectly applies makeup. We became such huge fans of the product after using it on our The Sun Doesn't Care photoshoot that we just had to use it again for Put A Lid On It.
Sweat and moisture are not the same thing, remember, so throw the can into the fridge for an extra pick me up at the end of a long day. Also, as the hot summer weather slowly turns into fall, SkinDrink is a great product to throw into your bag if you're prone to mid-season dry skin. The light moisturizing formula keeps your face from feeling too tight, but doesn't add any extra oily shine.
Immaterial: 18th Amendment 'West' Denim Shorts in Herringbone
Fancy a pair of short shorts? These 18th Amendment 'West' Denim Shorts in Herringbone are just the ticket. The thing to remember, however, when shopping ecommerce is that nothing is quite as short as it looks, unless, that is, you happen to be 5'11". If you're not, you can count on that 'mini' dress coming straight down to your knees, those floor sweeping wide leg trousers to bunch up at the floor, and those 'short shorts' to just be, well, short. While many jeans shorts walk a fine line between relaxed and straight up tacky, these shorts have the sort of details that put them in the former category. There's a smocked waistband at the back which helps with the sizing issue, that is, high waisted garments can be hard to size as you have to consider not only your hip measurements but your waist as well. The denim, a light (right on trend) herringbone wash also give them that tailored fabric feeling, so they don't look like the Levi's cut offs you've had for ten years. 18th Amendment is an Australian denim company. The line pivots on vintage silhouettes and so became especially coveted when styles like the high waisted, wide leg trousers came back into fashion.
