This year, Adam Lippes revealed a nautical-inspired resort collection. From the embellished maxi dresses to the easy draped shorts many of the items will prove just perfect for a midseason getaway. In fact, one might picture each piece perfectly rolled into a designer suitcase, easily mix-and-matchable during an exotic vacation. As for the gals who might not have the chance to indulge in such things, there are still city-ready boyfriend blazers, cocktail dresses and dazzling statement necklaces which will surely ease the pain.

Adam For Mango Presentation & Look Book
American designer Adam Lippes teamed up with Spanish retailer, Mango, to put out a Spring range of sporty, casual looks poised to hit shelves on March 1st. Yesterday, we checked out the Adam For Mango collection at a presentation on the roof deck of the Gramercy Hotel. For starters we can say that on a quality scale this collaboration ranks high; the fabrics were amazing to the touch and no seam was unfinished nor garment unlined. Otherwise, the collection satisfies both Adam's signature aesthetic--a sporty, sophisticated look--and the broader trends of the season. Check out our snapshots from the presentation and the full look book below.

Our New Three Days In A Row Tee
This may sound a little disgusting but we have been wearing the same tee-shirt, baring trips to the gym and bedtime, for three days in a row. What tee-shirt has us this obsessed? Adam Adam Lippes Long Sleeve Vee T-Shirt.
This 100% pima cotton tee is the platonic ideal of tee-shirt. Its so flattering, so comfortable, and so cozy that literally nothing else feels as "right" in our wardrobe. Longtime Coutorture readers will know of our affection for Adam so its little surprise that with our first Adam tee we have become so enamoured we literally won't take it off. Maybe this is a sign we should get a few more?
Fashion in 50 Seconds 9/30 with Balenciaga, Lanvin, and H&M
The record drop in the DOW after the collapse of the bailout plan in Washington was particularly harmful to apparel and retail stocks as fears over the economic turmoil turned to concern over how dramatic drops in consumer confidence will impact holiday spending. On the bright side “It definitely will impact the spending habits of an aspirational consumer, and by that I mean someone who will buy at an opening price point of a luxury brand to be in it” says Jeffry Aronsson. Though its clearly already impacting the cheap chic shoppers as H&M had a disappointing 3rd quarter.
But so far the truly expensive is still doing quite well as Balenciaga is having a banner year with nearly every runway garment they have sold out in pre-sales. Let's hope that Balenciaga CEO Isabelle Guichot doesn't get caught up on Gucci Group's notorious politics shall we? And if worse comes to worse there is still plenty of money in the Middle East, just ask Lanvin who is in talks with a Qatar based investor. This must be our addiction to romance that is making all this happen right?

And the one piece of good news we could find this morning? Our beloved Adam Lippes is opening a pop up store in our favorite underated American city of Buffalo.

Backstage & Runway At Adam
We've just returned from a quick backstage interview and runway show by designer Adam Lippes, and now we're back at the Altman Building for Karen Walker. Adam's show, per usual, brought out his friends and colleagues, and, (as we said last season) the best dressed crowd in town. This season, Adam was inspired by, among other things, the color chart exhibit that premiered at the MoMa earlier this summer. So, we saw neons galore and some truely remarkable combinations in texture. Adam also premiered his own shoe collection which will go on sale with the Spring merchandise. Last season's collection was inspired by the Berkshires and this season, though entirely different, still calls up that beautiful, relaxed ease that Adam fans seek in his designs.

Much Assembly Required: Adam Lippes and Viktor Jondal
Adam Lippes kicked off the first of the retail openings at Meatpacking Design Week. The installation his store on Hudson street hosted was entitled Much Assembly Required. An "ego" lamp collection and other works by Viktor Jondal, a Swedish, New York based product designer were strategically placed throughout the store, giving customers a chance to go from the lamps in the entryway to a video installation in one of the back dressing rooms.
Viktor Jondal was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. His education includes one year of Art-History in France, one year of Fine Art in Sweden and a BFA in Product Design from Parsons School of Design. His background has already very much included the fashion set with product design work for Keihl's, MAC and Reebok.
The subtle "ego" lamps went well with Adam's sometime minimal aesthetic. Someone was clearly paying attention to the details of collaborative installation, as we were impressed just how well Jondal's gray, purple, and black paintings merchandised with Adam's purple spring dresses.
