I can try the clothes on myself.…The feeling, the comfort and the pleasure of wearing some pieces, for the feeling that it gives to you, it’s very important. Even when something is too small for me, I put it on anyway just to touch the fabric.

Quote Of The Day: Marios Schwab Talks About His Strategy For Halston
Halston defines a moment in time, epitomizing the glamour, escapism and decadence of the 1970s. The simplistic yet unquestionably glamorous silhouettes embody the fantasy side of fashion...While Halston’s DNA is crucial to its future success, I very much wish to move the brand forward and make it relevant for today. Simple, effortless pieces realized via modern [fabrics] and technology will play a large role in how I will redefine the brand. The clothes will echo the heritage but with a very distinctive, modern feel that is completely new and completely now.
"Halston Taps Marios Schwab as Creative Director", WWDQuote Of The Day: The Good News From Michael Kors
The good news is in this crazy, terrible economy, I think people’s taste is getting better. They have to think about what they buy and they’re getting a more discerning eye because of it. There are no more shoes you can’t walk in, bags you can’t carry, dresses you can’t sit in...I equate [the current climate] to late-Seventies New York. I was young, excited and I had no idea that I was moving to New York just as the city was on the verge of bankruptcy. Crime was at its worst. The world was ending. But it was actually a very creative moment for New York. Creative people — whether it’s fashion, film, music, art — are going to have to try a little harder. We’re going to see this strange combination of creativity and pragmatism. That’s good news.

Leave it to Alexander McQueen to create a powerful visual message about the planet’s perils by rearranging the continents, via photo manipulation, into the shape of a skull.
Gucci Group Designers' "Home" Works, WWDQuote Of The Day: Thakoon Panichgul Fights For Intellectual Property Rights
It’s about understanding you can’t go into the business and teach young kids out of college and design school to go shopping and rip off clothes for inspiration. It’s actually about reversing that idea and talking about how we uphold the integrity of what we do here in America. I think it will deter people from actually trying to copy and will then have a ripple effect on design teams and the philosophy behind a company.

"Blue State: Gap Updates Denim Choices" WWDMarni Opens A New York Flagship Uptown, But Will You Be Able To Find It?
Today WWD reported that a second Marni flagship has opened in New York between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue on 67th Street. Somehow both the reporter and Consuelo Castiglioni have convinced themselves that this is off the beaten path even though, in truth, the area is one of the most dense retail zones in all of Manhattan. Probably the country. Probably the world. That aside, it's exciting that Marni has opened a second flagship considering the other one is all the way downtown. Ah, but there's a catch. The two stores will be stocked and curated according to their geographical profile so the Carrie Bradshaw types (who dress downtown but live uptown) will still have to cab-it down to Mercer Street to go shopping.
