As the hoards descend upon
Alexander Wang's sample sale in NYC today, those of us in other locations can console ourselves with some online sales. Markdowns have begun on
his pieces for the Gap — his
khaki pleated shorts are currently $39.99, marked down from $49.50, and his
double-breasted jacket is $74.99, from $88.00. Barney's is also running a huge sale, including the must-have
cerulean pocket tank for $69.99 — though only in size large.
Within Creatures of Comfort's sale is a section dedicated to Isabel Marant. The house's Spring/Summer 2009 collection is currently 30 percent off. The cotton/linen henley top that Angela Lindvall is wearing is $566. And if you're looking for low-heeled ankle boots for Fall, Isabel has a cool pair for $620. The only catch, you can't purchase online. Call the LA store — (323) 655-7855 — for size inquiries and to place your order.
Black Friday is looming and, as is typical of e-commerce, Net-a-Porter is one step ahead of the game. This Monday Net-a-Porter will launch into their big Fall sale with designer items marked up to 50% off. Want details? Here's a taste...the Alexander McQueen blow oversized hobo bag will be marked down from $2,100 to $1,260, the Miu Miu paillette pumps will be marked down from $650 to $390, and the Marc by Marc Jacobs concrete jungle dress will be marked down from $460 to $230. Looks like Net-a-Porter is giving us a reason to get up on Monday morning. If you haven't checked out their new Boutiques section, now is a chance to get, ahem, familiar with the merchandise.

Since we spend the majority of our August days in either a Mexican house dress or one-piece bathing suit, we've decided to play virtual dress up. As much as it pains us, we know fashion week is just around the corner, and that means waaay more running around and waaay less Mexican house dress. We've already started editorializing Fall but since not an overwhelming number of fall deliveries have made it online, it's still worth it to bring you outfits that are both on sale (from spring) and, at least partially, fall weather appropriate. To that end, we're put together this look. For starters, everyone please put down your pencils and check out
this Derek Lam bag which is marked down over
seventy percent off. It's like a sample sale that no one can see because they can't wrap their minds around it. Be the wise one and snatch that steal up--we're guessing there are only a few. After that insane bargain, the rest will be easy to rationalize. Two
Rachel Comey sale items that are totally worth a combined value of just over two hundred dollars and a pair of
Acne jeans at 50% off. Those A Pants will be on all of the e-commerce sites (including La Garconne) at full price in the next couple of weeks so you might as well get them on sale now (we know it's crazy but that's the way denim turns over).
Grey Ant, our favorite contemporary brands from this summer, will be participating in one of the eponymous Urban Outfitters collaborations. The collection will be cleverly titled
Grey Antics, and feature the same kind of seventies inspired bottoms and billowy tops that the ready to wear line puts out. Last time we went to Urban Outfitters (while in SF) we picked up a jumper from some jumbled pile and discovered it was one by Geren Ford (we think, we can't remember). You have to be carefully skilled in deciphering what, to us, feels like waaay too much information and waaaay to many piles of crap that need to be folded, to find the 'special' pieces. We're not sure, but we fear that these neat little collaborations get lost in the piles of other jumpers and other tshirts and other billowy tops that the retailer stocks in the first place. We suppose that's fitting though--if you can't decipher the collaboration from the Free People offer, what's the point in caring that they be separate and tidy within the shop anyway. On that note, let's forget all about Urban Oufitters and just shop the
real Grey Ant collection--it's marked down to an Urban Outfitters price point which kind of solves all of our problems right here and now.
