British designer Richard Nicoll is known for his sporty, clean style. For Resort 2010 the designer showed his signature silk color blocked dresses along side a fabulous line up of cropped trousers and textured skirts. As for the military metals, worn as brooches and necklaces, they were created by Erikson Beamon. Richard Nicoll has been producing hit after hit since he graduated from the Central Saint Martins MA course in 2002--we hope to see this young designer offered a creative director position in the coming seasons.

In The Showroom: Richard Nicoll Fall 2009

Last week, at the Centre For Fashion Enterprise pop-up showroom, we had the pleasure of meeting Richard Nicoll, maker of our favorite Topshop frock and all-around star designer. After a break-out MA collection at Central St Martins in 2002, Nicoll went on to show as part of the Fashion East gang and then, later, was backed by Topshop's New Gen program. More recently, Nicoll won the ANDAM prize as well as the British Fashion Council's Fashion Forward Award. Needless to say, he's faring quite well. Nicoll's standout Fall 2009 collection started by way of a print collaboration with the British artist Linder and explored deconstruction and femininity themes. Richard Nicoll Cruise Lands On Shore

This morning Net-a-Porter revealed their first deliveries from Richard Nicoll's cruise collection, and the wash of colors has us dreaming for vacation time. This midseason offering fits in nicely with Nicoll's Spring 09 collection which similarly features jolts of hot pink and silhouettes that are streamlined and loose-fitting. Nicoll is a graduate of Central St Martins and worked with Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton before launching his own collection in 2005. Along with the first four pieces from his cruise collection, the designer created an exclusive item for Net-a-Porter--namely, his coveted oversized t-shirt dress in navy (left). Classic, modern, and versatile it's no wonder Net-a-Porter requested he make the hot pink dress in another shade. Now Nicoll customers can get the bright statement dress and the classic basic from the same great silhouette.
