Raf Simons Designs Jil Sander Jewelry Collection with Damiani
Jil Sander is launching a jewelry collection of cocktail rings, necklaces, and bracelets with Italian jewler Damiani.
Raf Simons—who partnered with Damiani on earrings for the recent Jill sander spring runway show—defended his decision to expand into the jewelry category in a statement:
"After the great response on our first collection of earrings for this summer I am convinced that Jil Sander, even being considered as the brand of pureness, can create a product category such as jewelry which is not typically seen as Jil Sander."
The pieces will be available in Jil Sander boutiques and select department stores early in 2010. A watch collection will follow, being released later next year.

Quote Of The Day: Cathy Horyn On Raf Simons Men's Fall 2009
The suits and the coats are slim but the fit seems more accessible and mature, and Simons is now making all the clothes in Italy. It shows in the quality of the materials and construction. Lots of designers explore tailoring but the results are often tortured or uninteresting or superficial. You don’t see what the designer means for us to see, or if there is remotely a valid connection to a young man’s life. Still photos will probably not capture the vital difference in this show, though maybe they will.

Okay how do we put this...there is this ball, and it's never ending, and you roll it all over your body whilst in the shower, and...well, go see for yourself. Today, The Daily Obsession writes up "The White Ball".

Jil Sander Changes Hands
Here are some new clothes from a brand who just recently changed hands. While officially Out Of The City for the weekend, we were perusing the advertisements in a September glossy when along came a Jil Sander ad. Our boyfriend's mother asked, rightly, 'what sort of woman might wear heels so, so, uncomfortable looking' to which we answered (from the back seat of her smooth gliding non-taxi brand of automobile), that a more forthcoming question would be to ask what kind of woman wouldn't wear them. That is, most. Whatever you are left with, that lone woman with her hand raised, is your Jil Sander customer and you better believe she's not embarrassed to be poised as such. Jil Sander, ever defined by its slick, androgynous, aggressive aesthetic, has just been purchased by Onward Holdings Company for a clean 244 million. The brand, energized by Raf Simons and their previous holding company Change Capital Partners, is expected to keep Raf on board. Here's to a new chapter of Jil Sander and a seemingly confident change of hands. Now if only we could get Yoox to photograph the clothes so that they don't look like they're straight out of a Coldwater Creek catalog.
Yohji and Simons Collab Mad: Accessories Edition
These shades will blow those coveted Grey Ant pairs out of the water. The Yohji Yamamoto for Linda Farrow Sunglasses unisex collection, named Prototype, will launch in conjunction with Spring 09 deliveries and include four original styles made from titanium, aluminum, silver, and antiqued gold. You can pick them up at Yohji and Farrow shops. No word yet on the numbers in production, or the cost, but we're guessing they'll conjure a pretty penny from many a chicster.
In other collabo news, Raf Simons will be designing limited edition Doc Martins come Spring 09. Our Network Partner, Chic & Untroubled, reported on the collaboration as it was revealed during the Milan trade show Bread & Butter. If that (for lack of a better word) chunky sole never bothered you, this might be a very exciting day indeed. We're not particularly stoked to see the naked foot of a (admittedly fashion-forward) man peeking out from a cut-out Doc Martin, but alas, it's Raf Simons.
