We love the late 80's vibe of these mini skirts and think this era in fashion is going to be big again for Spring. Take a look at the Spring 09 collections of brands like Obedient Sons & Daughters, Lyn Devon, or Opening Ceremony and you'll see a distinct nod to this time in fashion. Pair these skirts with a buttoned-up blouse and a one-sided mane and you'll be the most fashionable kid at school--we promise!

Our New Love: Mociun

Talk about getting a lot for little bit of money; as unsettling as it might feel to spend three hundred dollars on anything these days, Mociun will at least give you bang for your buck. In the currency we call print, that is (teehee). This brand, designed by Caitlin Mociun, takes cues from Bauhaus and illustrator Karl Blossfeldt and puts out the most visually stimulating garments we've seen in some time. The Fall 08 mood was captured perfectly, we thought, in this season's look book. With the back drop of rather dismal scenery, 'real-life' models were photographed in these wonderful prints. In addition to this, the photographer imposed a yellowed/worn hue on the scenes (by way of the film or post-production we don't know), giving the photos a nostalgic mood. Mociun, from inspiration to collection to look book, is proving to have some very interesting contrasts. You can buy the Fall 08 collection, right here.

Vivienne Westwood Enlisted Design Team Of 8 Year Olds

This Fall 08, Vivienne Westwood showed a collection in which school children painted on the garments. Said to have been inspired by global warming, the children were meant to imagine a eco-warrior-like future. The prints came out beautifully, though we're sure the most abstract and vibrant among them were chosen for the collection. Overall, Vivienne Westwood Fall 08 was not your typical 'this is the bleak future' aesthetic that puts utility and/or deconstruction before, well, fun. Instead, it was a playful, colorful, wildly tailored (as always) collection with wearable pieces that give us something more Spring-like to wear in the Fall/Winter months.
