Pixie Market Sells Out Of Balmain Look-Alike

Pixie Market Launches Into An Online Summer Sale
New York based boutique and e-commerce retailer, Pixie Market, just launched into their summer sale. The boutique, whose trendy downtown wares are priced just below contemporary and just above the high street, are known for taking risks with their inventory. Expect sequin hoodies, drop-crotch trousers, jumpsuits and shredded jeans galore. In addition to the sale, be sure to check out their new arrivals section which boasts similar statement making items, most of which will sell-out before they make it into Fall's sale section.

Ka Pow Wow Makes A Well-Timed Statement
We've been stalking this accessories line, Ka Pow Wow, since we first noticed their necklaces were selling out on Pixie Market faster than a pair of black Louboutins do on Net-a-Porter. Ka Pow Wow makes to most wonderful ruffled pieces that, for a little more than one hundred dollars, are a real bang-for-your-buck investment. Spring 2009 was a season where statement accessories happily took the place of it-bags and so we think there's no better time for Ka Pow Wow than the present. Check out various look book images from the brand below.

Rabbit On The Run Fall 08 Look Book
Their collection might be small this season but we're still loving the suggestive prints from Rabbit On The Run, who we first learned about a la Pixie Market this summer. A bit of style manifesto we're working on is the t-shirt debate and how much and how often it makes sense to spend on such things. One theory is that you should find small designers at stores you really love and spring for a 75 dollar t-shirt over a dozen cheaper ones at Urban Outfitters (the one at left actually costs three times that much--it's a limited edition). Under these circumstances, your wardrobe would be infinitely more interesting and you would actually, in a way, be participating in the process. It's also, aside from the money, really hard to turn down these disco t-shirts--especially when we start thinking of them with opaque tights, heels, and a little jacket. Seems there's a very fine line between strategy and weakness.
Penny Loafers: A Classic Analogy
Yesterday afternoon, while strolling the main drag of Bedford Avenue we popped into a shoe store that had four different kinds of penny loafers on display. A coincidence? We think not. There are some trends that quietly reflect the mood and financial means of the consumer and there are some that are downright literal and unabashed in their analogies. That said, we've long been fans of the penny loafer and have no objection to their newfound popularity. These classic flats came along at the right time as they'll look nice with the cropped trousers and androgynous looks we'll also see this fall. Our pick so far is this pair by Poly. Clocking in at just under $110, it's a fine way to jump on the trend. Having taken a look at the older brands who still make the shoe, like this one, we can say that you wouldn't find them for much less anyhow.
