Today we ventured into Manhattan for a press preview at the Marie Saeki showroom--nestled on a downtown cobblestone street it is one of our favorite showrooms to visit. Today we started the preview off with the shoe line Coclico, which we remember from our first years in New York--their shop is located on Mott Street in Nolita which was (and still is) our favorite weekend jaunt. The French brand was borne back in 2000 and puts sustainable practices at the forefront of production. Coclico's aesthetic is classic and comfortable but still fashion forward. Our favorite shoes from the collection were the salmon colored sandals with a wooden wedge sole and the white and grey peep toe sandals, which are also part of the Fall 08 line in different colors.
The Fall 08 Givenchy footwear selection is shaping up to be powerful, sleek, and mid-season perfect--not that hosiery couldn't keep you in these year-round, with all the slashes and cut-outs this season, nothing is going to scare us from the cold. This season Givenchy is all about the peep-toe shape, with bondage like strapping right in front. For the same cost as a pair from Loeffler Randall--we're going to advise you to go for it. Could there be more evidence of a multi-color peep toe trend than the examples set before us in this spread--we think not! When the prices range from one hundred to one thousand, there's no questioning it. Pair these shoes with black opaque tights and the colors will pop in contrast. Our two favorites: the Miu Miu pair is a holiday dream come true and the pair from Bebe a sharp geometric option.
