If shooting her Fall 2009 look book in The Chelsea Hotel isn't evidence enough, the fact that Iranian designer Haleh Nematzadeh lives on the Bowery should efficiently communicate her design aesthetic. In other words, for Haleh, it's all about rock-and-roll. Having studied at FIT and, upon graduation, landed a gig with Patricia Field, by 2008 Haleh was ready to launch her namesake line. Perhaps the most generous of all collaborations is that of Payless and the designer-after all, where else could you go Collab Mad for less than twenty dollars? This holiday/resort season Payless worked with Patricia Field, Abaete, and Lela Rose on capsule collections that cover club hopping, island hopping, and black tie hopping respectively. If there is anyone you can count on to throw a party its MAO Public Relations and Patricia Fied. Its a little before 10pm and we are rocking with a crowd at the Edison Ballroom waiting for her collection. After a hectic day nothing quite takes th edge off like club kids and drag queens. We hate to use the term fabulous since so many seem to prefer to apply it to aspirational blighted urban women but you so know that Patricia Field is fabulous. Sure we wish she hadn't given so much ammunition to all "those" women but you can't deny that this woman is a force of stylistic nature. We can't wait to see what she turns out for us tonight at Destination Style but until then we leave you with her smiling face. And no we can't believe we climbed on the catwalk to get it either. And you now how we feel about that sort of behavior.
Fashion week without the club kids is like Christmas without a tree! Thankfully Phillipe and David Blond made sure this fashion week was a joyous season. They kept the downtown crowd waiting for nearly an hour last night as they scrambled to get their debut demi-couture collection on the runway. Patricia Field and her buyer became increasingly antsy as the clock ticked towards 10pm while a bored Patrick McDonald inquired after our reading material (China Mieville's Perdido Street Station) as backstage crews zipped, poked, and prodded girls into a set of corsets and costumes so intricate and so violent we can't wait to get our hands on them for a shoot. Clearly it was very much worth the wait.
