Seems Topshop has jumped on the paneled body con bandwagon with a series of skirts that remind us of the Stella McCartney Spring 2009 rendering. Surely there's a quality difference here but we're happy that chicsters shopping at both price points can enjoy the look. On another note, seeing the color discrepancy between runway and Net-a-Porter reminds us--no matter how much we love e-commerce--that color can't be trusted.
Clockwise From left: Balmain top $2,320, Erickson Beamon Glenda necklace $865, Chloe Paraty bag $1,870, Stella McCartney silk jacket $2,055, Halston strapless jumpsuit $2,595, Bottega Veneta crocodile bag $19,500.
The DOW was up yesterday and perhaps that set shoppers a-flight--we couldn't believe how many items sold-out on Net-a-Porter soon after they hit the New Items page. From that eponymous Balmain shoulder to McCartney's take on the nude trend, these items are all right on the money for Spring 2009. Speaking of money, that Bottega Veneta bag retails for almost twenty thousand dollars, reminding us that fashion really knows no bounds.
Nine out of ten men will agree that a chunky platform sandal is not their favorite fashion statement. In fact we would venture to say that, as a rule, fashion items that elicit the description "chunky" will not fare well with most people. Does that stop women from from spending up to seven hundred dollars on them? Nope. And why is that? We can't say for sure but perhaps it has something to do with the six-inch versions that preceded them. This spring, it looks like comfort is key.
