Quote Of The Day: WWD On Fashion Week
Others are defraying costs by different means — sight unseen. Three of publicist Kelly Cutrone’s clients — Nicholas K, Sergio Davila and Mara Hoffman — agreed to collaborate for a group show Feb. 15 in the tents, even though they will be introduced for the first time tonight over drinks.
Designers Entertain Offsite Locations For Fall Shows. WWD.The 50 Best Prints of Spring 2009
If you are feeling glum from all of the gray we saw on the catwalk, the impending financial doom, our imperiled ecosystem or are just plain out of sorts we have the fifty best prints of Spring 2009 here to cheer you up. From Gucci to Pucci, Miu Miu to Marc Jacobs we cover New York, Milan and Paris' best prints.
Best of Coterie: Mara Hoffman
Mara Hoffman has been a popular Google search term for Coutorture since New York Fashion Week so we knew we had to get up close and personal with the line at Coterie. Her Spring 2009 collection has all the hallmarks that made the designer such a popular choice for laid back creative women everywhere. Easy to wear loose long dresses in big patterns, lots of nearly nudes, and a few separates here and there made up the collection. But the real value? Her incredible textiles. This is is clothing that feels good.
New York Spring 2009 Trend Reports: Stripes
Forgive us the awkward turn of phrase but stripes of all stripes were out in force on the catwalk for Spring 2009. Horizontal, vertical, or criss cross the pattern made its way onto dresses, shirts, skirts, and even slacks. Sabysachi, Mara Hoffman, Tommy Hilfiger, Aurelio Costarella, Leifsdotter, Doo Ri, Derek Lam, Iodice, Ports 1961, Carmen Marc Valvo, Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc, Tibi, Y3, Catherine Holstein, Alice McCall, Rag and Bone, Michael Angel, and Thakoon all showed a variation on the theme.
New York Spring 2009 Trend Reports: Cool Sunlight
The first rays of cool sunlight after a long dark winter is one of our favorite colors, clearly we aren't the only ones as that washed out barely there yellow light found its way into several Spring 2009 collections. Chris Han, Thuy, Mara Hoffman, Carmen Marc Valvo, and Tommy Hilfiger played with diffused yellows on the runway.
New York Spring 2009 Trend Reports: Bohemian Like You
Its all just a case of history repeating, some is fashion, some is fad, some is good, some is bad and now we are going to stop quoting lyrics at you. Except that for Spring 2009 we feel so Bohemian Like You. If next season is going to be yet another summer of love (because who has the money but do anything but hang in the park?) then Diane Von Furstenberg, Sabyasachi, Mara Hoffman, Chris Han, Vera Wang, Nicole Miller, Ann Sui, Marc Jacobs, Rosa Cha, Catherine Holstein, Rebecca Taylor, and Matthew Williamson all have suitably happy hippy, magpie, flouncey outfits to get you started.
