To this day, the only place to buy Manolos in London is at Monolo's own shop on Old Church Street, a side street in deepest Chelsea. It's a mostly residential area, and a twenty-minute walk from the nearest underground station. It is not convenient to Mayfair's Bond Street or Knightsbridge's Sloane Street, where most of the world's top luxury labels can be found....None of London's other stores are allowed to carry the brand, lest they cannibalize sales from the Old Church Street boutique. For women with a day job, it is nearly impossible to buy a pair of Manolo Blahniks in London. In fact, many of London's serious dressers buy their Manolos in New York, where, thanks to an enterprising franchise partner, George Malkemus, they are available at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, and even online, in addition to the Manolo Blahnik boutique, just off Fifth Avenue.
