Mexico's tardy Fall 2009 presentations, divided between DFashion, Mercedes Fashion Week, and several random events, have left us wondering just where Fashion Week Mexico, ten years strong and seemingly prescient in the past two seasons, has gone--and why we're seeing these collections in June! Several insiders have laid it out for us, saying that somehow FWM just didn't get its financial wheels on this season. Apparently, Mexico's first Mercedes Fashion Week was there to fill the vacuum but didn't include many of the young, independent designers like TEAMO, T.E.M.O.R.E.S. and Mancandy, who were veterans of Fashion Week Mexico. Thankfully, yesterday began this season's DFashion, a designer-organized fashion event that is focused on representing independent Mexican talent. Below, Mexican label Mancandy's Fall 2009 collection.

Mexican Fashion Goes E-Commerce
Having once fallen in love with Mexico City by way of its young, thriving design scene we're always on the lookout for boutiques that stock these hard to find brands. Today someone clued us into FashionMX which stocks a few of our favorites, namely, Mancandy, T.E.M.O.R.E.S., Cherry Project, Etre, and Carlos Ortega. Unfortunately, TEAMO isn't on there but judging by the number of magazine editorials we've spotted them in, it shouldn't be long before that changes. Word is that Mexico Fashion Week is in jeopardy this season, but we'll keep you posted with the newest collections from these designers either way.
