Last night celebrities and fashion folk gathered in Rome to celebrate the opening of Bulgari's retrospective, titled, "Between Eternity and History: 1884-2009". As part of their 125th anniversary celebration over five hundred works of jewelry, watchmaking and objets d’art were on display. Check out images from last night's even in the gallery below.

Bulgari "Between Eternity And History" Opening Exhibition
The Model As Muse: Embodying Fashion
This morning we attended a press conference for the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute 2009 exhibition entitled, "The Model As Muse: Embodying Fashion". We'll be bringing you red carpet photos from tonight's gala but check out our first look inside the exhibition itself. As stated by The Costume Institute, the exhibition "explores the reciprocal relationship between high fashion and evolving ideas of beauty, focusing on iconic fashion models in the latter half of the 20th century and their roles in projecting, and sometimes inspiring, the fashion of their respective eras.".
Richard Avedon Exhibition To Open At International Center Of Photography
There's nothing like the air-conditioned calm of a gallery opening during a sweltering New York summer--and this one should be on any fashion lover's calendar. The exhibition opens May 14th and stays open through September 6th. It calls itself "the first exhibition devoted exclusively to Richard Avedon’s fashion work" and is slated to include some 175 photographs from Avedon's career. Avedon is most widely known for his work in the 50's and 60's at Harper's Bazaar and in the 70's and 80's at Vogue (he went to Vogue when Diana Vreeland did). Avedon was also the inspiration behind Stanley Donen's film Funny Face starring Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn. Let's hope the film is playing down the street at Bryant Park this summer, so that one could make a whole Avedon evening of it.
Isabel Toledo Retrospective Poised To Open This June
It was announced this week that a fashion retrospective celebrating designer Isabel Toledo is slated to open at FIT's museum this June. The retrospective, entitled "Isabel Toledo: Fashion From The Inside Out", will display approximately seventy looks from the mid-1980's to present, including pieces from Toledo's time as creative director of Anne Klein. The retrospective will be open to the public from June 17th through September 26th. We'll be reporting on the retrospective when it opens but, for now, check out a first look at some of the designs included in the exhibition.
