Lingerie detailing and underwear-as-outerwear were two dominant themes during the spring 2010 fashion shows with designer like Jean Paul Gaultier, Marc Jacobs and Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana resurrecting famous nineties silhouettes and making what was once old, new again—think sculpted bra tops, bloomers, corsets, slips, ballerina tights, bustiers and see-through lace.
The front row at the Dolce & Gabbana fashion show yesterday in Milan had a few new faces.
Fashion bloggers Bryan Boy and Tommy Ton sat sandwiched between Vogue's Anna Wintour, Sally Singer and Hamish Bowles; Vanity Fair's Michael Roberts; and the International Herald Tribune's Suzy Menkes in front row seats typically occupied by powerful editors and A-list celebrities. At least one attendee asked if street photographer Tommy Ton was in the correct place, and Mario Testino apparently found another seat once he identified his neighbor. Perhaps the open laptop gave it away?
Garance Doré and Scott Schuman also sat front row at the very well-reviewed spring 2010 show, most likely not feeling as awkward nor sweating quite as much as their fellow bloggers.

With the success of fashion insider films like "The September Issue" and the Sundance Channel's brilliant series, "The Day Before", designers are increasingly willing to allow cameras behind the scenes and into their personal workspaces to promote a new collection.
This season Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have joined the camera-loving group and are filming a series of daily web videos, allowing a sneak peak at their preparations for spring 2010 in the final days before the Dolce & Gabbana show this Sunday.
In the first video of a four-part series, titled "The Pre-Show Diaries", we spotted loads of black and white fabric and trimmings—lace, netting and fringe—along with a pair of killer black peep toe-heels, jet and gold beaded jewelry and satin headbands. The kindest thing to say about Dolce & Gabbana's superficial tribute to the surrealists (by way of Jeff Koons) is that the design duo must have been too busy on their new line of makeup to take a clear look at this show of Mickey Mouse shoulders (as seen last season) and Elsa Schiaparelli references.
