We might be in danger of playing favorites with Charles Nolan but its hard not to get caught up in the enthusiasm the entire house has for the line and the women that wear it. Visiting Charles' booth at Coterie is a perfect example of why a runway show is never enough to get a feel for a collection. You have to get up close and personal. Thankfully Charles' friendly sales team let gush over the Spring 2009 offerings. Because really what woman wouldn't want to own every single one of his crisp white shirts?
The Spring 2009 shows may have only finished a few days ago in New York but savvy fashion watchers know its all about what gets bought. Many runway favorites were at Coterie ENK's impressive tradeshow at the Javitt's Center. Fresh off the runway looks from Charles Nolan, Badgley Mischka, Carmen Marc Valvo and Tadashi Shoji were causing quite the stirr. Yesterday, a beautiful Sunday afternoon indeed, Charles Nolan showed his A/W 08 collection. We'd been to his studio recently, for the FGI Rising Star Awards party he hosted, and, like last time, the large space filled up in a casual Thanksgiving-dinner sort of way. Children were running between legs, people were sipping coffee and eating bagels with lox and cream cheese. Sure, there was the usual chaos of preparing for a show, but the Nolan-way was present. It was our pleasure to interview Mr. Nolan before the show, where he told us a little bit about the collection and its mix of tradition and technology. Soak up that bright light (that's a sick river view you're witnessing) and the amiable manner of a gentleman who can manifest 'lifestyle' from backstage to brick and mortar.
