Catherine Malandrino Book Signing And Tenth Anniversary Happenings
Catherine Malandrino celebrated her brand's tenth anniversary this year and released a coffee table book in celebration. The French-borne designer, who worked for both Diane Von Furstenberg and Emanuel Ungaro before launching her own line, also opened her second Los Angeles store this October. Malandrino first launched her ready to wear collection, Catherine Malandrino, back in 1998, and, in 2005, expanded her brand to include a couture line called, Malandrino, which shows during New York Fashion Week.

In The Showroom: Ideeen Spring 2009
Ideeen's Spring 2009 collection was based on a dream, with each delivery marking a different stage in the experience. The collection starts out with powdery nudes and soft, feminine layering. Next, elements of darkness follow the cloud-like beginning and bring the collection into a stage where draping, color, and print are experimented with. The New York-based Japanese design duo behind this brand, Junko Hirata and Atsuko Yanase, met when they were working for designer Catherine Malandrino. With just a few seasons under their belt, Ideeen has received critical acclaim from both buyers and press. To see the Spring 09 look book, click here. Fashion in 50 Seconds 10/21with A|X Armani Exchange, Chin Choi, & Catherine Malandrino
Nothing is cuter than a diffusion line thinking big and such is the charm of A|X Armani Exchange we almost can't begrudge their delusions of grandeur when it comes to designing their new logo. “We’re expanding aggressively globally and we wanted a strong logo that could be iconic — almost like a Nike swoosh,” said Tom Jarrold, A|X Armani Exchange’s senior vice president of global marketing and communications.
For spring Shin Choi is debuting a secondary line, Yarnie, named after a common nickname in Korea. The wholsale prices range from $39 to $98 while the main collection goes from $69 to $249.
Susie Lehr owner of the Susie Lehr Showroom was found dead in her showroom on Monday morning. She was 52. Details on the circumstances of death are as of yet unknown
We normally dislike celebrity fragrance endorsements but Yves Saint Laurent Parfums has announced that Vincent Cassel will be the face of an upcoming men’s fragrance and we rather like the choice. The star of gritty French drama “La Haine” is about as hip as they come so we don't complain. If only all companies were this forward thinking about their faces.
Yet another East mets West art collaboration is happening in fashion, Paul Smith has taken his love of art all the way to Japan, this weekend unveiling The Wood Show, an exhibition by British artist Richard Woods, at his Paul Smith SPACE shop in Tokyo.
Fop fashion is back. Back? We live in Williamsburg where it has never gone out of style.
Catherine Malandrino is opening a 6,000-square-foot-space in her hometown of Los Angeles to celebrate her 10th Anniversary. Meant to feel like home the boutique has four rooms, each featuring the designer’s personal items, such as movie posters and pieces of art.
