Season number six of Mercedes Benz Berlin Fashion Week begins Thursday, followed by Miami Swim Week, which starts this Friday. Consider the Spring 09 season officially underway. The names you'll probably recognize, showing in this year's Berlin Fashion Week include Vivienne Westwood Anglomania, Kai Khune, c.neeon, HUGO, and JOOP! jeans. We'll have loads of photos and reviews for you as things progress. To read about the designers participating in the Berlin shows, click here. Miami, which will no doubt serve as a alcohol-saturated vacation for all of those showroom reps who undoubtedly deserve some time off, will also host an exciting roster of designers including Zimmerman, Custo Barcelona, and Tibi. We're off to Premiere Vision tomorrow afternoon, a textiles trade show for the Fall 09 season, and then to a Paul Wilmot Holiday 08 preview, which means sneak-peak pics of Uniqlo, Monique Lhuillier, Naeem Khan, and L.A.M.B. Exciting things happening in Coutortureland and the fashion world proper. For the rest of the day, we're going to throw back caffeine and office-poll who will confuse the seasons in an interview first and what everyone will be wearing come spring 09. One possible answer: straight jackets. Berlin Fashion Week

Looks like boudoir lingerie and songs from seventh grade are making a comeback. We never quite figured out what a Wonderwall is, but the Oasis song has been stuck in our heads ever since we discovered Wundervoll, a new underwear label out of Berlin. We're fairly certain the brothers Gallagher weren't crooning about undies, but after seeing this stunning collection, they may as well have, because these lovely looks are definitely something to sing about. Wundervoll's much lauded first collection, for S/S '08, debuted at Berlin Fashion Week, and its arrival in stores is being hotly anticipated by the fashion bloggerati.
Designer Matthias Jaschke uses slinky, modern materials like silk jersey to create barely there bras and lace-up panties that veer less towards frilly and more towards minimal, with a slightly vintage bent. The highlight of the collection is a pair of silky, high-waisted panties featuring rows of buttons along the front. Now that we're wearing high-waisted pants again, how apropos that someone should make us some underwear to suit our new look? No word yet on which retailers will carry the line Stateside, but we'll be keeping an eye out.
We also have impressive designer video interviews and original editorial spreads. May we cordially suggest perusing our selection? S/S 08 Marcel Ostertag
January 28, 2008 · 0 Comments
Marcel Ostertag, the German born St. Martins graduate, has only a few women's collections under his belt. Having started with menswear, Ostertag cultivated a reputation based on precise tailoring and a tough urban aesthetic. The S/S 2008 women's collection, references previously trendy downtown staples (the laquered leggings, the ethnic scarf print) and re-imagines them as high-end garments. Overall, the collection's biggest success is the balance of dense masculine elements with clean, weightless ones. Osertag's A/W 08 collection was presented as part of Berlin fashion week, where network partner, f&art, covers the shows.
