Inspired by a recent photo of Kate Bosworth rocking her buckled ankle boots from Chloé's fall 2009 collection (she also wore them in red last winter), we found six current season styles that match the look. Topshop offers a near replica of Chloé's studded flats in white, Dolce Vita adds a Victorian lace-up front to their version in brown leather, and Proenza Schouler designs a double buckle option with silver zipper detail. Our favorite for fall? Sartore's jodhpur style in gray.

This fall, lace-up ankle boots are a footwear must-have. This Fall, flats and low-heeled shoes are back in fashion and, so far, ankle boots are the strongest evidence of that trend. Pair them with cropped denim or a feminine floral dress now and layer them with wool stockings and trousers come fall. This isn't the first time we've given a nod to Victoria's Secret footwear--if you're trying to keep under one hundred dollars and not look like you just stepped off of a Canal Street delivery truck, Victoria's Secret comes as one of our highest recommendations. Frankly, sometimes you need to do some filler shopping--a nude platform here, a high-heeled ankle boot there, and something basic and affordable works because you know the shoe in question will only work with a limited number or outfits in the first place. Take the rose colored classic platform, pictured above. Pair these with dark denim or black opaque tights and you'll feel like your entire wardrobe has been revitalized in an instant. The Victoria's Secret runway show might cost a pretty penny to put on but they can probably afford it--given how many shoes they must sell in a season.

Fashion Calls A Truce With Leggings

You've seen the trend galleries and the presence of them on the e-commerce sites, it stands to be seen that leggings are not going anywhere anytime soon. On the bright side, gone are the tunics that gave them such a bad reputation in the first place--at least on the runway. Now leggings, economical for both fashion designers and their loyal customers, have gone luxe. From Gareth Pugh to Rag & Bone (left) it seems leggings are now just another form of trouser and, given how comfortable women have become with showing off their waistline and hips--they're still a top choice among fashionistas of all walks of life. Could women, that said, be ready for the next level? Yesterday we noticed a pant-less trend on the Spring 09 catwalks, and, in today's Topshop Hoiday spread, a sequin pair of knickers made us think it an actual possibility. For now, let's just say we're happy fashion has made a truce with leggings. After all, how else would we show off all of those fabulous ankle boots?

Everyone loves the new ankle boots that are taking Fall 08 by storm, but what about those days when you're running errands and need an element of comfort? We're loving the combination of cropped denim and flat ankle boots for this reason. Whether it's a loud tie-dye wash, a sleek dark skinny jean, or the boyfriend cut, pairing your favorite cropped denim with a pair of flat ankle-highs is a fashionable and comfortable option. In The Showroom: Acote Spring 09

Acote, the footwear brand that's a sibling to (or branch of) Cotelac, put out two pairs of Spring 09 shoes that we just couldn't get over--how can two perfect pairs of flat ankle boots not be on sale when we want a pair most? The first was a nude suede boot with a fold over cuff. We pictured wearing them into the ground and never, ever throwing them away. The second was a charcoal grey pair with a contrasting nude interior. We imagined them with Spring dresses and skirts...and just about keeled over. Cotelac, much like Coclico (and, in fact, the other brands at Marie Saeki showroom) is a brand that veers more toward 'classic' than 'high fashion' and what we like about this is that you get the sense that these items are long lasting. Nothing in the Acote Spring 09 line is something you'll be tired of seeing by Spring, nothing is too trendy that you'll fear wearing them the following season if you like. We're starting to see the value in this aesthetic more and more these days...

LD Tuttle is a dream brand for a certain kind of independent girl that likes her accessories trendy but not immediately recognizable. The fall collection is packed with the requisite grays and off color neutrals, bursting with ankle booties and straps galore, and it has just enough suede to make us swoon. In other words, it has everything a Williamsburg wants without saying screaming I bought this season's "it" shoes. Community member Style Bite is positively drooling over the collection. Thus it is no surprise that Coutorture favorite and Williamsburg (and now Soho) staple Oak has a great stockist for the fall collection. We took the liberty of doing a little round up of the shoes we like best.
