All Six Scents Land At OAK This Week

Just in time for spring, the Six Scents series is landing online and in stores--this week it launched on the OAK website complete with designer quotes and fragrance descriptions. Only 2,000 bottles of each scent have been produced (and numbered) with a percent of the proceeds going to Designers Against AIDS. The "fragrance initiative" was curated by Joseph Quartana of Seven New York whom, at the opening reception, referred to the project as a "cherry popper". Histoires de Parfums Launches A Heady New Fragrance

Recently, we learned about fragrance line Histoires de Parfums which French chef and restaurant owner Gérald Ghislain launched some years back. This beautifully packaged, collection of fragrances amazed us with its concept: to build perfumes inspired by figures in history, like Jules Verne and Mata Hari. Aside from the eight "main characters" there are also three "soliloquies" and two "cult books". The newest fragrance, 1969, falls in that category. Meant to embody the mythical, culturally voluptuous year that was 1969, the new perfume contains a mixture of rose, chocolate, spices, and of course, patchouli. Guerlain is celebrating their 180th Anniversary with an exhibition titled "The Revival of Time" which opened last night in Paris. The exhibit is meant as an expression of the house's values of quality, skilled artistic craftsmanship. The designer of of the exhibition, Caroline Messensee, reconstructed the houses traditional motifs and influences to showcase Guerlain's products and creation through years.
