Footwear trends are all over the map for Spring 2010 with extremes popping up at every turn on the catwalk — itty-bitty kitten heels at Marni and Louis Vuitton; chunky platform flats at Calvin Klein and Bottega Veneta; playfully printed pumps at Versace, Miu Miu, and Dries Van Noten; ultra-high platforms at Versace, Fendi, and Burberry; and of course the clogs at Chanel. London-based Central St. Martins graduate Danielle Scutt's second collection for Topshop hits stores (and the online shop) this week. For Spring 2010, Scutt designed vividly-hued digital prints that appear on deconstructed swimwear, ruched dresses, and chiffon tops. Her inspiration runs the gamut from 50s demure — a floral playsuit in lime green and yellow — to 90s body-con — a dove-gray high-neck one-piece swimsuit. Click below for images.

Velvet—especially red and oxblood colored—was all over the New York runways for fall 2010. Alexander Wang draped the deep red fabric into asymmetric mini dresses with black lace detailing, Zac Posen used vampy reds for pleated bustier dresses and seventies style trouser suits, and Ralph Lauren kept it classic with velvet mutton sleeved tunics and floor-length evening gowns.

The first product offering to be released from Madonna's newly inked deal with Iconix Brand Group is an eyewear collection designed with Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The collection of six sunglass styles bears an MDG logo — the M standing out and filled with tiny stars.
This is the first co-branded collaboration for Dolce & Gabbana. “We’re so excited. This further strengthens our relationship with Madonna, and it was a very constructive experience for us,” said Stefano Gabbana in an interview with WWD. “[Madonna] is very exacting and a professional who seeks perfection in everything she does, and this was no exception.” According to the article, Dolce & Gabbana sent Madonna over 50 sketches, which she then edited down to six, while altering designs to her liking.
Steven Klein used stills taken from a video shoot for the ad campaign, which features close-ups of Madonna playing a film noir version of herself along with model Tyson Ballou. The campaign breaks in May magazines, and the lineup of sunnies will retail for around $250. Styles include retro black plastic shades, gold and silver metal frames, and wrap-around goggles.
Madonna's next fashion item launch will be the Material Girl juniors' line available at Macy's this August.

Some of the most memorable looks to hit the international runways this month were detailed in all kinds and colors of fur—a white mongolian lamb cuff here, an orange-splashed fox fur mini skirt there—and of our favorite handbags and shoes of the season followed suit. Think Michael Kors' soft cross body satchels, Karl Lagerfeld's Nanook of the North boots and matching chain strap handbag for Chanel, and Thakoon's fur-trimmed open-toe booties.
