Spring Trend Never Manifests In Actual Product

A post we wrote this week on the disappearance of nude as a trend, had us thinking about another curious absence in fashion. When magazines and websites were gearing up for the Spring 08 season hardly a week went by where we didn't see sheer stocking socks editorialized in some way, shape, or form. Those sweet little socks paid complement to our most daring platforms and sandals of the season and exhibited sheer, as an overall trend, quite nicely. We realized this week that those sexy little aspects of hosiery never really made it to the shop windows or the streets. At all. This absence, however, doesn't seem to be a case of a timid fashionista, rather, a lack of actual product! When all those stylists were rightly including sheer socks in everything from runway shows to editorial spreads, perhaps no one remembered that these are not the same people that put the darn things in the store. Needless to say we think we figured out what to do with those sheer American Apparel pantyhose everyone hates so much. Let's keep it alive, folks!
