Jayson Brunsdon Spring/Summer 2008/09
While S&B Vie is stirring up twenty-something mischief with sequins and lamé leggings, their contemporary, Jayson Brunsdon, is sticking to the 'timeless glamour' formula with confidence. There are always a few of these designers at any fashion week, the ones you know will produce pretty frocks, that won't send models down the runway wearing latex masks, that, when asked of their inspiration will most likely say, 'Jean Simmons' or 'Marlene Deitrich'. This Spring/Summer 2008/09 Brunsdon showed a collection which was predominately white, copper, and cocoa, with the exception of a few burnt orange leaf prints (actually perfect if this ships with our Fall deliveries). Always a bit conservative (if this season more than ever before), Brunsdon's frocks came to knee on the leggy models, meaning that most wearers (unless they want glamour at mid-calf) will have to make a very special trip to their tailors after purchase. What we liked best about this collection is that it offers distinctly daytime garments that are no less-dressed up than that which you might wear in the evening. Getting dressed up by noon is something of an anomaly in this day and age and, if anything, we appreciate the nudge.
