Trend de la Creme For Coutorture: Central St Martins For Plankton
Isn't that the perfect analogy. The Fall 08 Central St Martins fashion show, as seen through the eyes of our network partner, Trend de la Creme, can be likened to the mysterious underwater silhouettes of plankton. Plankton, you see, is a "a description of life-style rather than a genetic classification" and so the analogy fits the bill. Central St Martins is one of the leading colleges in London and their fashion program (or, programme if you're actually studying there) has turned out everyone from John Galliano to Zac Posen. Among the designers who presented in the show were Simone Shailes who received the L'Oreal trophy for her outstanding knitwear, and David Steinhorst who won the Harrods Award, granting him window real estate for a full two weeks. Check this week's installment of the Trend de la Creme for Coutorture comparison series, where emerging designers reveal an aesthetic resemblance to the the silhouettes of underwater organisms.
